Today we learned that "double digit" numbers are numbers made of of two digits. We practiced sequencing double digit number cards in counting order with a partner.
During science we labeled things around the room that are made of fabric. Within three minutes I had ten different labels all over me!
Thanks for a great day!

2014 Goals
The past two days we learned the word "resolution" means the same thing as setting a goal. We each wrote four goals of something we would like to learn, do, or make progress toward in 2014. They look fabulous hanging in our classroom, and are even more fun to read!
In 2014 I want to go off the diving board.
In 2014 I want to be a better cutter.
In 2014 I want to learn to tie my shoes.
In 2014 I want to help my mom.
In 2014 I want to go to Ms. Conlee's home.
Be sure to ask your child what they would like to learn, do, or make progress toward in the upcoming year!
Have a great weekend!

Welcome Back!
We had a GREAT day welcoming back our friends and settling into a school routine once more. It was great to hear about everyone's winter break and their enjoyed time with family.
Today we created our January calendars with some lovely snowmen! Our number writing skills have become quite impressive!
We also kicked off our science fabric unit. We learned the names of ten different kinds of fabric, felt each of them, and made predictions of what fabrics would work best to make a great pair of paints, a shirt, a backpack, etc.
Thanks for a great day back!

Snow Day at School!
We had a lot of fun playing, painting, and relaxing on our "snow day at school!" We used q-tips to paint snow globes and wrote about the things we would hear, see, smell, and feel if we lived in a snow globe.
Upon returning from music class we found our reading table COVERED with cookies, plates, and another letter!
We had fun decorating cookies, drinking hot chocolate, and even enjoyed a movie!
Have a WONDERFUL winter break! See you in January!

Shape Attributes and More Trouble!
During math we played, "What's my Rule?" using various shapes. They were different colors, sizes, and thick or thin. Friends could ask yes or no questions to narrow down the possibilities such as:
Is it red?
Does it have six sides?
Is it thick?
Is it large?
When we put all of the clues together, we were able to pick up the exact shape I was thinking of! We have some great detectives in here!
This afternoon we found this note in our classroom with a bunch of golden tickets. I wonder what that means for tomorrow? We will be celebrating our last school day before winter break with a "snow day at school!"
See you tomorrow!

When we came to school this morning, Alfie the Elf had created ANOTHER disaster! Our snowflakes were all knocked down and there were purple strings everywhere!

Fifth Grade Reading Buddies
This morning our classroom was COVERED in bows! They were on EVERY chair and all over the cabinets! Our birthday bags were all knocked over as well.....
Today we were invited to Mrs. Englehardt's classroom to read with fifth grade buddies! We read several of our books to them and they even read to us!

Geo Boards and a Few Mysteries....
This morning we worked with a new tool called a "geo-board." They were square plastic tools with spokes all over them. We used rubber bands to create shapes and pictures on the geo-board.

See you tomorrow!

Building a hexagon.
A quilt!
The first letter in our names!
You may have also heard about a HUGE mystery taking place in our classroom. I'll let you see if you can spy the problem in the following photos and just who may be causing all this trouble!
See you tomorrow!
